Achieving your goals in 2010

It’s that time of the year when people set goals and plans for 2010, and I encourage you to do the same. Of course, we should have big, giant, important goals, but I don’t want to discourage you. I do want to encourage you to set small, manageable goals so that you can see results. Let those small goals be part of the big picture.

What is it you want to achieve this year? To achieve any goal, you have to have a plan. And again, you want to be sure your plan involves the small, doable steps that you can use or apply every day to keep you on track. A first step to meeting your goal could be to research how others have gotten to where you’d like to be. Doing so may give you some ideas to help you fulfill your goal. Once you have done your research, decide on the steps and plans you can use to meet the goal yourself. Look at how you can fit the steps into your daily life. Doing a little something each day will give you a sense of accomplishment and build your confidence.

Once you see the daily success of reaching the small goal, you can then either add more small goals or try a bigger one. If you miss a day or a step, all is not lost. Just pick up and get back on your plan. I wish you well with whatever you have planned for 2010!
